Barcode Battlers is a simple way to experience the joy of carrying a monster in your pocket, defeating wild monsters, and training to be a champion.

It is a physical game that would fit on a standard 3.5"x2" business card.

Requirements

  1. Printing
  2. Something to write with
  3. Affection for 90s monster battle games
  4. Some wild bar codes
    • (NOTE: If you are playing Barcode Battlers at a time where venturing into The Wild is unsafe, consider hunting for UPCs in your pantry, your bookshelf, and on media cases you have in your home.)

UNrequirements

  1. Ability to draw
  2. Lots of free time
  3. Other people

(With apologies to Skannerz. But not too many of them.)

A fun little diverson but not much more. Once your warriors copies some higher stats, they'll be nearly invincible well before they can become a champion and then it will start to get boring once the rush of power wears off. On the positive side you can play it solo (but i recommend ignoring the once a day rule, this game doesnt have enough depth or novelty for long term play)

This is super clever. Barcode battler was the piniccle of advanced alien tech in my young eyes. Glad to see it's not completely forgotten.

My friend had the electronic version of this when we were younger!

I wanted one really badly when I was a kid, but never had one. I thought of them again for the jam because I'd recently seen someone revisit them on YouTube!
